Turkey doesn't actually make you tired.

Every year, turkey gets convicted of making your Thanksgiving guests tired, but the holiday bird is totally innocent. The myth that turkey sends you into a post-meal snooze fest is all due to tryptophan - an amino acid that's rumored to turn us into nap-happy zombies. But, while turkey does have tryptophan, the truth is its tryptophan content is about the same as chicken or beef. Pound-for-pound, it's not even a tryptophan heavyweight! Those carbs cause a spike in blood sugar, which then crashes quite quickly, making you feel like you need a nap, like, right now. Add in a little nip of wine, and you're practically telling your body to put you out like a light.

It’s the feast’s fault, not the turkey’s. The poor turkey, who - let’s face it - is already having a pretty rough holiday since it ended up on a table, just happens to be the seasonal fall guy, left to take the blame while the real culprits - the carbs, portions, and booze - are really pulling the strings.

The Culinary Union has announced a strike at Virgin hotels starting next Friday, November 15. And the F1 Grand Prix kicks off on November 21. So, I guess Virgin has a about thirteen days to start giving into some demands or figure out who’s gonna be serving dinner.

The Raiders Do a Good Turn 🏈

Like your football with less padding, but also a few less head injuries? Then, flag football might just be your game. Even the Raiders are encouraging it.
