🤘 Weekend Mode: Lots of Live Music & Other Fun Stuff

Hoping the forecast for cooler temps holds!

TODAY’S WIND DOWN BROUGHT TO YOU WITH

Happy Friday Afternoon, Neighbor!

Well, it's officially the summer event season with the first Craft Festival at Tivoli Village this Sunday. If you've never been to one of these, it's a pretty sprawling thing, taking up a full street and more with craft tents and food trucks. It's low-key, if a bit busy, and free... unless you buy something... which, let's be honest, you probably will.

In today's Summerlin City Wind Down:

  • Today's Happy Hours🍷

  • Did You Know? 🧐

  • Restaurant Specials 😋

  • The Weekend's Events & Live Music 🎵

  • Beyond Summerlin 🚗

Let's get to it. See you on the other side.

But first up, a quick note from our sponsor. Mmmm... tea. (Don't miss the discount code to save 20%!)

TODAY’S HAPPY HOURS

If you like to do your early-evening drink-dining in an actual bar, today's Happy Hours are for you. We're talking 24-hour, bar-top gaming spots with very similar pitches.

First up, The Martini, right across the road from Boca Park, bills itself as your neighborhood cocktail and gaming bar. While, just west on Charleston, The Pint bills itself as your neighborhood beer bar with video poker. Both are also VERY much sports bars.

So, basically, it's your choice - cocktail or craft draft while you play/watch the game. Though, the Pint does allow smoking and The Martini doesn't, if that's a deciding factor for you.

OTHER BARS WITH HAPPY HOURS TONIGHT

Did You Know? 🧐

Most days of the week got a mythological makeover courtesy of Germanic tribes, who replaced Roman gods with their own deities.

The days rebranded by the Germans are:

Tuesday: Originally "Martis" for Mars, the Roman god of war, renamed after Tyr, the Germanic god of war.

Wednesday: Originally "Mercurii" for Mercury, the Roman messenger god, renamed after Odin (Woden), the chief Germanic god.

Thursday: Originally "Iovis" for Jupiter, the Roman king of gods, renamed after Thor, the Germanic god of thunder.

Friday: Originally "Veneris" for Venus, the Roman goddess of love, renamed after Freyja, the Germanic goddess of love.

The three days that dodged the Germanic renaming are the days on our immediate horizon:

Saturday: Originally "Saturni," named after Saturn, the Roman god of time and agriculture, retained its name because there was no Germanic equivalent.

Sunday: Originally "Solis," named for the Sun, kept its solar-inspired name, though it adapted to the Germanic word for sun - "Sonne."

Monday: Originally "Lunae," named for the Moon, also kept its original name inspiration, but transitioned to the Germanic word for moon - "Mond."

So, basically, our weekly calendar is one epic mythological crossover episode.

And if you moon Monday, it's kind of like paying your respects.

TODAY’S RESTAURANT SPECIALS

If you tend toward fish on Fridays (for whatever reason - I grew up Catholic, so shout out to everyone whose dads would only stop at Captain D's on Fridays), here are a couple of restaurant specials that might satisfy that craving for under $10.

Catch #2: Rubio's, where both their Original Fish Taco Plate and their Baja Beer-Battered Shrimp Taco Plate are on their "5 Under $10" menu all day, every day.

  • Wahoo’s (Boca Park) - Fish Tacos & Chips $8.99
