And more weekend fun to check out!
TODAYâS WIND DOWN BROUGHT TO YOU WITH
Happy Friday Afternoon, Neighbor!
Well, weâve made it to the weekend. Just barely. Has anyone else been feeling⊠warm? đ«
Anyway, you might remember last week when we flashed forward to October and the Summerlin Festival of Arts. I just want to mention it again for those people who meant to look into it and forgot (one of my personal gifts), because the deadline is on Sunday. So, if youâre an artist or crafter who can outfit a mean booth, you still have time to get your application in.
In a more immediate flash forward, Las Vegas Restaurant Week starts on Monday. Weâll be talking about that a lot next week, but if thereâs a place around the city youâve been dying to try out but have been sitting on for some reason, you might want to look into their Restaurant Week offerings and make your reservation now.
And happy first day of Pride tomorrow! đłïžâđ

TODAYâS HAPPY HOURS đ
The humble french fry, is it ever truly humble? I mean how many meals canât a side of fries improve, and is there anything they donât go with? (If there is, donât tell me. I donât wanna know. Iâve even dipped fries in soup.)
So, while the french fry is often unassuming, relegated to a side dish, under-appreciated perhaps - or maybe not, we all know theyâre delicious - Happy Hour is the perfect time for a fry dish to shine. So, if youâre ready for a Friday Fry Feast, here are a few places that put a unique twist on their Happy Hour fry offerings, including two with special sauces and one that is a bit heavy (even meat-topped!) but definitely unique.

Did You Know? đ”
A chimpanzee saved the "Today" show.
It might be a hard thing to fathom after its more than 70 years on the air, but "Today" wasn't an instant hit.
In the early 1950s, NBC's "Today" show was floundering with dismal ratings after its first season and was on the verge of being a lost cause. So, the network came up with a Hail Mary of a plan, which was basically, "We have nothing left to lose, so why not hire a chimp?"
Enter J. Fred Muggs, an acting chimpanzee who joined the show in 1953 and became an instant sensation.
While the move wasn't supported by everyone - the show's original newsreader, Jim Fleming, quit in protest - it turned out to be a show-saving play. Muggsâ antics, which included reading the day's news, doing comedy bits, playing piano, and wearing a whole lot of super cute outfits, brought in audiences and skyrocketed the show's popularity, not to mention the network's bottom line. It's estimated NBC made over $100 million from Muggs, and that's no monkeying around.
