TODAYâS HAPPY HOURS & EATS đ¸
If youâre a lady looking for something new to do, the Rouge Room is launching its Ladies Night tonight. All-lady groups get 50% off drinks starting at 8 pm (which almost makes their drinks reasonably priced), and there are Ladies Night giveaways on the horizon. Thereâs also live music tonight, also starting at 8 pm.
For those non-ladies among us, youâve still got some good options in Red Rock Resort this weekend. If youâre out early, you can get some cheap drinks and foodstuffs at Leoncito from 3-5 pm today, or for that âdiscount drinks + musicâ deal, check out Lucilleâs Smokehouseâs Reverse Happy Hour tomorrow night, where their late Happy Hour starts at 9 pm, but the live music goes through 11 pm.

Did You Know? đ
The Liberty Bell cracked more than once.
While the Liberty Bell might be famous for the crooked crack that mars its face, that crack wasnât its first. Its first crack happened before the bell even made its grand debut.
In 1752, the Liberty Bell, cast by the Whitechapel Bell Foundry in London, made it to American shores in Philadelphia. Super excited to give it its first ring, officials there struck it and it cracked. Immediately. So, what were officials to do? Send it to some local Johns - John Pass and John Stow - to melt it down and recast it. So, melt it down and recast it the Johns did, adding the inscription âProclaim Liberty Throughout All the Land Unto All the Inhabitants Thereof.â But, as lovely as that sentiment was, when officials struck it this time, it sounded bad. So, they returned it to the Johns for a second go-round.
So, Pass and Stow tried again, melting it down and recasting it for a second time. While the tone of the bell wasnât much better, the third bell stuck. But it wasn't the end of its cracking saga.
The iconic crack started sometime in the early 19th century. There are plenty of legends as to when and how the crack began to form, but, in truth, no one knows exactly when or how the crack started. What we do know is the final, irreparable crack happened in 1846 when the bell rang to celebrate George Washington's birthday. Ring-a-ding-ding and the crack went full lightning bolt, growing so large the bell could no longer be rung.
But, since history says the tone was never particularly pleasant anyway, maybe thatâs a good thing.
AROUND THE VALLEY đĄ
Here are some things Around the Valley we think might be of interest -
Mandatory Microchipping đś
If youâre a dog or cat parent, you may already know that mandatory microchipping goes into effect in Las Vegas on August 1st. All dogs and cats over four months old are required to be microchipped. This ordinance is an attempt to stop overcrowding at area shelters, and to make it easier for shelter workers to help return lost pets to their rightful homes.
If your dogs and cats havenât been microchipped yet, you can get up to three pets chipped for free at the Nevada SPCA through the end of July.
They Didnât Get Our Neighborsâ đ
The temperatures arenât the only things breaking records this Fourth of July. The Metro Police have also seized a record-breaking number of illegal fireworks this year. More than 8.5 TONS of illegal fireworks have been confiscated in The Valley since mid-June. But, since someone nearby was BOOM-BOOMING well past 11 pm last night, I assure them they didnât get them all.
