T-rex wasn't just king of the dinosaurs. It was also the heavyweight champion of biting.

In fact, the T-rex had the strongest bite of any land animal in the history of Earth.

Just how strong was the T-rex’s bite?

Well, experts have crunched the numbers (no pun intended), using T-rex fossils in their research, and determined that the T-rex could exert a jaw-dropping 8 tons of pressure. That's 16,000 pounds of force in a single chomp.

That’s a lot of pressure - enough pressure to crush a car like an aluminum can. So, that's how strong the T-rex's bite was - not just a bone-crusher, but a full-on car compactor.

But the T-rex’s bite wasn't just brute force for the sake of it. Its powerful bite allowed it to take down massive prey, biting through bones with ease to get to the good stuff. Sort of like a dino version of cracking open a lobster.

Along with its massive bite, the T-rex’s serrated, banana-sized teeth made it a meat-shredding machine, turning whatever unlucky creature it caught into lunch in record time. But that’s not all. The placement of its teeth and the structure of its jaw were also engineered for maximum efficiency. Basically, the T-rex had a bite built for survival - a perfect prehistoric storm of power and precision.

So, while today’s top predators might think they’ve got bite, they’re nowhere close to matching the T-rex’s jaw-dropping power. We should all breathe a sigh of relief that the only place we’ll ever encounter one is in a museum or a Hollywood blockbuster, because 65 million years ago, a T-rex snack attack could have proven an extinction-level event.
