TODAYā€™S WIND DOWN PRESENTED BY

Happy Tuesday Afternoon, Neighbor!

Riley has the day off, so you get me (Shawna) today. If youā€™ve ever emailed us, then weā€™ve met before. As for the rest of you, I hope I donā€™t disappoint you today. Or your cat, cause itā€™s National Cat Day šŸ˜ŗ

As you probably noticed, itā€™s starting to feel a lot like sweater weather. But Iā€™m trying to hold off on kicking that heat on so I can enjoy the $$ savings of not needing the A/C on. And cause Southwest Gas tried to empty all our bank accounts last winter. šŸ˜

Also, we had a reader ask if Mucho Loco had closed down as it was closed when she went for lunch. We did some investigating and discovered they are no longer open for lunch weekdays - open hours are from 3 pm-Midnight Monday-Friday. This still has them open for their Happy Hour on Mondays and Wednesdays only from 3-6 pm. Weekends they open at 11am.

TODAYā€™S HAPPY HOURS & EATS šŸ„ƒ

Itā€™s Tuesday, which means lots of taco specials. Normally, I am all about that taco life, but this weather has me focusing more on comfort food. And Iā€™m from Tennessee so itā€™s all about the happy hour menu at Lucilleā€™s BBQ over at Red Rock Resort today.

Even though itā€™s happy hour and youā€™re sitting at the bar, you can still get their complimentary biscuits. Please, and thank you.

And you gotta order those loaded fried green tomatoes because they are out of this world. (you can see our pictures here)

I grew up eating a lot of pulled pork, but let me tell you, their Nashville hot chicken tendies are where itā€™s at on their happy hour menu. So, skip that sammie and get the tendies, which also come with fries.

I recommend washing all that down with one of their happy hour whiskey drinks, but you do you.

Quick note: if you enjoy whiskey, every Wednesday is whiskey night and the whiskey drinks are cheaper than happy hour prices. And you get an extra shot of whiskey with the drink! AND they extend happy hour until close on Wednesdays!

Did You Know? šŸ™€

Cats can predict the impending death of humans.

At least, that's what stories from hospices, care homes, and even some spooky living rooms would have you believe. But is it true?

Itā€™s said that cats, with their mystical sixth sense, possess the ability to anticipate death's approachā€”particularly with patients in their final hours. The famous cat Oscar, from a Rhode Island hospice ,gained notoriety for his uncanny ability to sit with dying patients just hours before they passed away. His talent was so consistent that staff began calling families when they found him napping beside a patientā€”forewarning them of a loved oneā€™s last moments.

But how exactly do cats sense this grim inevitability?

Scientists believe that these feline prophets aren't channeling the paranormal but are likely reacting to physical changes that occur in the human body before death. Cats possess a remarkable sense of smell, far superior to that of humans. Itā€™s possible they detect the biochemical shifts that occur as the body shuts down, like the release of certain chemicals or pheromones associated with the dying process. Some experts suggest that cats might also sense changes in body temperature or alterations in a personā€™s behavior and movement.

They may pick up on distress or anxiety through subtle cuesā€”whether itā€™s a change in the person's breathing patterns or even an imperceptible stillness that signals the body's approach to its final chapter. The catā€™s behavior might change, too: a once aloof feline might suddenly become a shadow, clinging to the person, offering a last bit of comfort.

Though we may never fully grasp the scientific mechanism behind it, cats seem to be the grim, fur-covered angels of deathā€”sometimes anxious, sometimes affectionate, but always aware of something we canā€™t quite perceive. Spooky, isnā€™t it? Maybe next time your cat curls up with you in an unusual way, youā€™ll wonder... is it because they love you, or do they know something you donā€™t?
