Our Restaurant Week preview continues...

TODAY’S WIND DOWN BROUGHT TO YOU WITH

Happy Wednesday Afternoon, Neighbor!

So, apparently the Michaels in Downtown Summerlin opened at some point last week. 🤷 I guess I should have been driving over there every day to check, but just I thought there would be more fanfare, like some sort of Grand Opening or sale or giveaway or something. But, then, there’s almost always some sort of sale going on at Michaels, and apparently the opening of a Michaels closer to home is only worthy of fireworks to me. (Nah. I’m sure some of you are super excited about it too.) So, anyway, it’s allegedly opened. Though, I haven’t verified this. So, if you need some crafting or arting stuff, proceed with caution.

Also, there are some things to do tonight in Summerlin, including the first Summerlin Sounds of the season, but if all you’re worried about is staying cool, and it starts to feel a little warm at home, don’t forget that the Summerlin, Sahara West, and Rainbow Libraries are all open until 8 pm tonight and tomorrow.

TODAY’S HAPPY HOURS (FEATURING WELL DRINKS) 🍹

When it comes to low-priced Happy Hour cocktails, well drinks are really where it’s at. But not all Happy Hour well drinks are priced the same.

If all you want tonight is a reasonably priced G&T, Moscow Mule, or Dark & Stormy, here are some places where you can order them from the well for $6 or less.

Did You Know? 🧐

Prix-fixe menus were invented by culinary maestro Auguste Escoffier.

In his day, this guy was basically the superhero of the kitchen, revolutionizing the way we dine out.

In the late 19th Century, Escoffier, often called the "King of Chefs and Chef of Kings," had already made a name for himself with his refined cooking techniques and structured kitchen brigades. But he wasn't done yet. He took one look at the disorganized dining scene and decided it was time to change the game. Inspired by the desire to streamline service and provide a delightful dining experience, he introduced the prix fixe menu - a set menu with a fixed price.

Instead of diners getting lost in a labyrinth of choices and fluctuating costs, they could now enjoy a curated selection of dishes for a single price. It was like the Netflix subscription of dining: pay once, and enjoy a whole series of culinary delights without worrying about the bill adding up.

Though they started at the Grand Hotel in Monte Carlo, where Escoffier was head chef, prix fixe menus became wildly popular. Diners loved the simplicity and the opportunity to experience a chef's best creations in a cohesive, thought-out meal. Plus, it made life easier for the kitchen staff, who could now prepare a set number of dishes with precision and flair. It was a win-win situation - chefs got to show off their skills, and customers got to indulge in gourmet experiences without the sticker shock.

So, this Restaurant Week, enjoy the well-orchestrated symphony of the prix fixe, still proving that sometimes less (choice) is more (enjoyment).
