TODAY’S HAPPY HOURS & EATS đŸ±

If you’re looking to change things up, there’s some new stuff on the Happy Hour scene.

First up, at Fleming’s, they’ve actually added wine to their Happy Hour menu (I’m pretty sure it’s the same price as the cheapest red we typically get when we go there , but still, it’s nice to see some variety). They also have new foodstuffs, including Crispy Chicken Sliders and a Charcuterie Plate.

  • Fleming’s Steakhouse

  • Boca Park Area

  • 4 pm-6 pm

Next up, in Downtown Summerlin, Sushiloca has launched a Happy Hour. It’s from 3-5 pm, and I have no idea what’s on the menu yet, but they’re advertising sushi and sake, so I’m guessing it’s about what you’d expect.

  • Sushiloca

  • Downtown Summerlin

  • 3 pm-5 pm

Did You Know? đŸ·

Wine is old. Like, really old. In fact, it's so ancient that it predates written history
and a lot of other things.

So, just how long have people been sipping the fruit of the vine exactly?

Well, archaeologists have uncovered evidence that around 8,000 years ago, grapes were being grown specifically for wine in the Caucasus region, which is modern-day Georgia. That's right, long before France, Italy, or Napa Valley were even on the map, even before Jesus perfected the art of jazzing up water, ancient people were already figuring out how to turn a harvest of fruit into a really good time.

The millennia between are a blur - TOO much wine, maybe? - but we know by around 5,000 years ago, wine was becoming more than just a happy accident. This is when the ancient Egyptians started recording the process of making herbal wine. So, at least by this point, no one was just just pouring grape juice into jars and hoping for the best - wine-making was a full-scale operation with herbs, spices, and all sorts of botanicals to create medicinal concoctions. Not to mention tasty ones.

Curious as to where exactly this fits into the progress of humanity? The answer is shockingly early - 8,000-year-old wine remnants means our ancestors were dipping into the cask while they were still figuring out written language and inventing the wheel.

Priorities, am I right?

AROUND THE VALLEY 🌭

Here are some things Around the Valley (and the Olympics!) we think might be of interest -

Hankering for a HUGE Bratwurst? 🌭

Tomorrow is World Bratwurst Day, aka Bratsgiving, which is a day to honor the not-so-humble bratwurst. In honor of this delectable meaty-treat, the most German of all the German restaurants in Vegas - Hofbrauhaus - is serving up the "Gigantische Bratwurst" special. The special consists of a “16 oz. two-foot-long, cheese-filled sausage served in a baguette with green cabbage bacon salad and two pounds of French fries.” Yes, two POUNDS of French fries. Which sounds delicious, but is an absolutely bonkers amount of food. You’re gonna need a whole lot of beer to wash that puppy down.

If You Can Get Tickets
 🏀

It’s a sporting kind of Saturday over by The Strip. Earlier in the day, the Aces are getting the band
 er, team
back together, with the team’s gold-medal Olympians returning to their home court to take on the New York Liberty. Then, later that night, it’s the Raiders pre-season home opener against the Dallas Cowboys. Both games are sold out, but you can get resale tickets, or, you know, enjoy watching from the comfort of your couch.
