They have good seating (well, two of them), are super chill, and are, coincidentally, all in Downtown Summerlin. Just be warned, Trattoria Reggiano does open its windows on nice days, and that’s how you get skeetered. 🦟

Sloths, those lovable slowpokes of the animal kingdom, breathe gas.

And yes, we're talking about that kind of gas.

Sorry for the junior high school language, but, essentially, sloths breathe farts, and it has everything to do with their unique digestive systems that match their laid-back lifestyles.

It all starts with the sloth diet. Sloths eat leaves, which are tough to digest, and that famously slow manner by which they move? Well, their metabolisms are equally sluggish. As a result, it can take a sloth up to a month to digest a single meal. This slow digestion creates a buildup of gases, much like the churning of a volcano, but unlike most animals, humans included, sloths don't release this gas the way you'd expect. Instead, the gas gets reabsorbed into their bloodstream and released when they breathe.

That's right, sloths don't expel their gas from the back end. They breathe it out.

While this might just sound like a practical joke of nature, this quirky adaptation actually helps sloths stay as stealthy as possible in the wild, where avoiding predators is key. A sudden smell, and its accompanying noise, isn’t the best way to stay incognito when you're hanging out in a tree. Breathing out gas gives sloths more control over its release and allows them to release less gas at a time.

It just won’t earn them many kisses.

(But, honestly, given the opportunity, I would still absolutely kiss a sloth 😘 🦥)
