šØāš¼ Father's Day Weekend Mode In & Around Summerlin
Dad-themed AND not Dad-themed stuff for the weekend!
TODAYāS WIND DOWN BROUGHT TO YOU WITH
Happy Friday Afternoon, Neighbor!
And Happy Early Fatherās Day to the dads and the fans of dads.
Since it is Dadās weekend, I can think of no better way to kick off the weekend than with some worst-of-the-worst dad jokes. Unfortunately, I canāt tell you any of the jokes MY dad told, because that would be highly inappropriate. So, here are some dad jokes my dad DIDNāT tell, but probably should have told instead of the ones that he did.
How many apples grow on a tree?
All of them.
What causes dry skin?
A towel.
Why should you never trust trees?
Theyāre shady.
And now that youāve had your afternoon groan, letās get to some other ways to honor Dad this weekend.
In today's Summerlin City Wind Down:
Today's (And This Weekend's) Dad-Approved Happy Hours š»
Did You Know? (Featuring Dad) š§š»

TODAYāS AND THIS WEEKENDāS DAD-APPROVED HAPPY HOURS š»
Want to get tanked with Dad this weekend? If so, the where and when depends on what Dad likes.
FOR THE BEER DADS
If your dadās a beer guy, youāve got a few options for distinctive beers (or just a lot of it). Both Lazy Dog and BJās Brewhouse include their branded drafts in their Happy Hours (Lazy Dog also has a house beer sampler), while Alās Garage offers mix & match beer buckets perfect for the indecisive dad.
Lazy Dog (Downtown Summerlin, Happy Hour Tonight Only) - Lazy Dog Drafts $6, House Beer Sampler $7

Alās Garage (Vista Commons, Happy Hour All Weekend) - Pitchers of Beer $16, Mix & Match Buckets $20

FOR THE WINE DADS
Dad prefer wine? Iāve heard some do. If so, he may like a place where more than just the house or select wines are discounted at Happy Hour, and a couple of those places do exist.
(Though, there may be a better place to take Wine Dads in the Events sections below ā¬ļø)
Dom DeMarcoās (West Charleston, Happy Hour Tonight Only) - Wines by the Glass Ā½ Off
9785 W Charleston Blvd
2-6 pm
Leoncito (Red Rock Resort, Happy Hour Tonight Only) - Wines by the Glass Ā½ Off
11011 W Charleston Blvd

FOR THE LIQUOR DADS
Finally, if your dadās a true liquor man, heās gonna need a liquor-friendly Happy Hour. And, while plenty of places serve up Happy Hour cocktails, far fewer discount straight pours or shots. But a few places do.
This is where Dad can get a straight pour or shot with no fuss tonight (and even over the weekend).
Bonefish Grill (Boca Park Area, Happy Hour All Weekend) - Premium Bourbon $10
8701 W Charleston Blvd
3-6:30 pm
The Pint (Summerlin West, Happy Hour Friday & Saturday) - Well Liquor $4.50, Peanut Butter Whiskey $5, Jack Fire Shots $5

Frankieās Uptown (Downtown Summerlin, Happy Hour Tonight Only) - Neat Pours, Last Call Bourbon, Last Call Spirits $6.15
1770 Festival Plaza Dr
3-6:15 pm
If youāre looking to upgrade your Happy Hour for Fatherās Day, and actually drink with Dad ON Fatherās Day, this Sunday is also the last night of Spot On Sunday at HarlĆ Steakhouse, where you can taste Spot Whiskey alongside an extended Happy Hour at the bar.
Spot On Sunday - Spot Whiskey Tasting with Extended HarlĆ Hour
HarlĆ Steakhouse (Downtown Summerlin)
1720 Festival Plaza Dr
4-9 pm
Did You Know? š§š»
The seed for the first Father's Day was planted the year before the seed for the first Mother's Day, in 1907.
But it would take another 58 years AFTER Motherās Day was made official for Fatherās Day to become a nationally-recognized holiday.
While the idea for Motherās Day started in honor of one mother, the idea for Fatherās Day started in honor of many, following the tragic Monongah mining disaster in West Virginia. A service was held for the miners, many of whom were fathers, and the idea of honoring ALL fathers began to take root.
Bloom into 1910, when Sonora Smart Dodd, whose father raised six children on his own after the death of her mother, lobbied the church, YMCA and government officials for a day like Motherās Day to honor fathers.
Her hard work paid offā¦ on a local levelā¦ and on June 19, 1910 the first Fatherās Day was celebrated in Washington State. Though, it would take many, MANY more years for Fatherās Day to become official nationwide. It wasnāt until 1966 that President Lyndon B. Johnson issued the first presidential proclamation honoring fathers and designating the third Sunday in June as Fatherās Day. And it wasnāt until 6 years later, in 1972, that Fatherās Day became a national holiday.
So, the journey to Father's Day was a lot like Dad building something from scratch. It took an instant to get started, but 58 years to finish. But in the end, there it is, sturdy and dependable (just as long as you donāt lean on it too hard).
The Weekend's Events & Live Music (AKA Places Dad Might Like to Go) šµ
You might have noticed, we skipped over our usual Restaurant Specials section for extend Happy Hour and Events sections this week. But if youāre looking for that special restaurant meal for Dad, there are plenty of places with special menus this week.
If youāre looking for something a little outside-the-restaurant to do with Dad, youāve also got quite a few options this weekend. From getting starry-eyed to getting brainy to getting artsy to getting tipsy to getting competitive at the arcade, itās Dadās weekend to do as he likes. There are even fireworks to kick off the weekend.
