🍝 Egg Rolls, Space Burps, and Cheap Pasta Tonight
Summer Movie Mondays starts today!
TODAY’S WIND DOWN BROUGHT TO YOU WITH
Happy Monday Afternoon, Neighbor!
As you might have seen over the weekend, after all our talk about Restaurant Week, we had a Restaurant Week debacle. We showed up for Hussong’s brunch prix-fixe and were told it was a mistake on the Restaurant Week page and they’d removed it… the day before. It was incredibly disappointing, to say the least.
In other restaurant news you may have seen, Chinglish and its companion restaurant, Chinglish Kosher, closed down on Sunday. Which is a real bummer. We talked about going there multiple times and never made it. We even talked about it on Saturday, the day before it closed, but didn’t know it was closing at the time and went someplace else. So, I guess the moral of this story is - if there’s a place you want to eat, you better put your mouth on it before its gone.
Also, it’s Primary Election Day tomorrow, and we’re under another heat advisory, so don’t forget you can still drop those mail-in ballots in the mail through tomorrow. Or, if you prefer to vote in-person, a place with lots of indoor space - like Rainbow Library - is probably a really good choice.

TODAY’S HAPPY HOURS 😎
It seems like everyday is some particular food’s holiday - it’s almost as if we like to eat or something 😂 - and today is no exception. Today is, in fact, a two-fer. It’s both National Egg Roll Day and National Iced Tea Day.
While there are no egg roll or iced tea deals on today, at least none around here, there are a few places you can nab traditional egg rolls on a Happy Hour menu. Well, one. Which is probably not as many as you’d think. A lot of the places you’d expect to serve egg rolls on their Happy Hour menus don’t. Which is interesting. And one of the places we know serves them doesn’t have Happy Hour today, so if you want to celebrate National Egg Roll Day at a Happy Hour, I guess Lemongrass & Lime it is.
FEATURED HAPPY HOUR (DUE TO EGG ROLLS)
|
For the record, Jade Asian Kitchen & Noodles is the other place we know that serves traditional Happy Hour spring rolls, but they don’t have Happy Hour until Wednesday.
Egg rolls not your jam? Check out our full list of Monday Happy Hours in Summerlin (we’re still adding to it).

Did You Know? 🤔
It's impossible to burp in space.
*Be warned: This one gets a little bit gross.
While burping is one of the digestive systems's smart tricks, allowing us to expel excess air and gas from our upper digestive tracts, the zero-gravity environment of space throws a wrench into these usual workings. On Earth, gravity helps separate the liquid and solid contents of the stomach from the gas, making a burp possible and fairly clean. (Though, perhaps, a bit stinky.)
But in the microgravity of space, things get a bit more complicated. Without gravity to keep things in their rightful places, the gas in a person's stomach doesn't separate from the liquid and food. So, if a burp arises, it does so as a mix of food, liquid, and gas. This delightful concoction is known as a "wet burp." Or, in more scientific terms, a "regurgitative event." Or, in the simplest of terms, if you try to burp in space, you'll throw up in your mouth. Every time. Definitely not something you'd want floating around in your space helmet.
So, while space travel offers the thrill of weightlessness and the awe-inspiring views of the cosmos, it also comes with an increased risk of upchuck. Now, who's ready to apply for Astronaut School?
TODAY’S RESTAURANT SPECIALS 🍝
Last week, we focused on Restaurant Week - did anyone get any good prix-fixes? - but this week, we’re getting back to business as usual.
Specifically, we’re talking pasta, and a couple of places where you can get it for ½ off tonight.
First up, at Buca di Beppo, it’s Meatball Monday, where you can get ½ off their spaghetti and meatballs.
Then, over at The Martini, you can also get ½ off spaghetti and meatballs, along with a number of other pasta dishes, during their ½ Price Pasta Night.
Buca di Beppo - ½ off Spaghetti & Meatballs
7690 W Lake Mead Blvd
All Day
The Martini - ½ off Pasta
1205 S Fort Apache Rd
5-10 pm
Prefer to indulge in a little Margarita Monday? Chili’s Marg of the Month is The Wish You Were Here Marg (tequila, strawberry purée, coconut, watermelon, and fresh sour) for $6.
Got a vacation coming up? Don’t forget travel insurance! It’s cheap and the peace of mind you need. Plus, travel is already stressful enough!

LOCAL EVENTS TO CHECK OUT
You might have noticed, Mondays tend to be a bit low-key here, and tonight is no exception. But we do have a couple of things coming up later this week and next week that you may want to get a jump on.
On Wednesday, there’s a Sports & Entertainment Career Fair at Las Vegas Ballpark from 1-3 pm. It’s for intern and entry-level positions, and attendees should bring copies of their resumes. The Career Fair does cost $40-50 to get into, but if you want to get your foot in the door in the city’s sports industry, it’s one opportunity. You also get a free ticket to the Aviators game that night to offset the cost a little.
Next week, there’s a Monday Mystery Movie at Regal Red Rock and Regal Summerlin Luxury. Tickets are $5 and these movies have a tendency to sell out, so if a mystery movie sounds like a good way to get out of the heat next Monday, you might want to pre-order your ticket now.
And, tonight, we’re going just a touch beyond Summerlin to Durango Resort. The George Sportsmen's Lounge at the resort is having their first Summer Movie Monday tonight, playing Twister, which means you can watch Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, and Cary Elwes chase tornadoes (and Jami Gertz create a love triangle) on the big screen. But it IS on the patio, so keep that in mind.
Twister (Summer Movie Mondays)
The George Sportsmen's Lounge (Durango Resort)
6903 S Durango Dr
8 pm
Free Entry (Reservations Strongly Encouraged)
LIVE MUSIC
Mark Aston
La Casa Cigar Lounge (Tivoli Village)
430 S Rampart Blvd
8:30 pm
