In more Earth-bound news, the wind is coming⊠yet again. Weâre on a High Wind Watch from Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon. (Gusts up to 55 mph.) Luckily, weâve got plenty of indoor activities for the weekend in Summerlin. Though, those gusts may put a bit of a damper on outdoor Cinco de Mayo festivities.
If youâll be in your car in West Summerlin this weekend, you should also know some roads will be closed on Sunday for the L'Etape Las Vegas by Tour de France bicycle race. The race starts Sunday at 7 a.m., but road closures will begin at 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, so plan your Saturday night debauchery accordingly. Did You Know?
The official name of Cinco de Mayo is "El DĂa de la Batalla de Puebla," which translates to "The Day of the Battle of Puebla" in English.
While Cinco de Mayo might have your brain turning to music, margaritas and guacamole, the day actually commemorates a serious David vs. Goliath victory back in 1862, when Mexico triumphed over a much larger French army.
On the fateful day, a scrappy Mexican force under General Ignacio Zaragoza held their ground against the well-equipped French invaders. Despite being outnumbered and less equipped, the Mexican troops succeeded in outmaneuvering and defeating French forces, giving a huge morale boost to the country and turning the tide of the war.
So, when you raise your glass this Cinco de Mayo, remember the underdogs of Puebla who made this a day worth celebrating!

El Dorado Cantina in Tivoli Village is having a full-on two-day block party, complete with live entertainment, a margarita bar, a street taco stand, and more.
