Restaurant Week coming to a close...
TODAYāS WIND DOWN BROUGHT TO YOU WITH
Happy Wednesday Afternoon, Neighbor!
And an extra Happy Loving Day ā¤ļø
Itās another night of Summerlin Sounds in Downtown Summerlin. Unfortunately, weāre also under yet ANOTHER excessive heat warning š”ļø, so if you were planning to get out, you might want to play this one by feel.
Also, Las Vegas Ballpark released its new menu for the season earlier this week, and itās added a whole lot of BBQ, brats, beignets, and a new anniversary ale. So, if you normally grab a bite before you get to the park, you may want to rethink your strategy.

TODAYāS HAPPY HOURS š¹š„
Well, itās Summerlin Sounds tonight in Downtown Summerlinā¦ if the whole thing actually comes off in this heat. So, weāre featuring places in the area. Namely, weāre featuring places with Happy Hour foods that feature bacon, because itās National Jerky Day and bacon is about as close as you can get to jerky on an appetizer menu around these parts.
First up, at Frankieās Uptown, their bacon wraps around a stuffed jalapeƱo for that spicy popper sensation. While, a block away, at Lazy Dog, you can order a batch of Bacon Candy (which MUST taste better than it sounds), and is definitely a weird Happy Hour option weāll talk about another day. But, for today, itās your best jerky substitute in Downtown Summerlin.

THAI BEEF JERKY?
Jerky substitutes not gonna cut it for your National Jerky Day celebration? We get it. And there is one place with actual jerky - Thai jerky - on their Happy Hour menu, and thatās Lemongrass & Lime.
Not a jerky or bacon fan? Donāt worry, youāve got loads more options for Happy Hour tonight in Downtown Summerlin and beyond. Check out our list of Wednesday Happy Hours in Summerlin.
Did You Know? š§
Tablecloths were created to be used as giant, communal napkins.
Emphasis on the giant, and the communal, because they were invented in Roman times, when large (and messy) dinner parties were a common custom.
When tablecloths were first sewn and thrown over tables, guests were meant to wipe their hands and faces on their portion of the cloth. This practice continued through the Middle Ages, which is when the idea of white tablecloths as āfancyā originated.
Just as they do today, white linens required significant effort to maintain and keep clean. But while we can just throw them in with enough bleach, keeping white tablecloths white in the Middle Ages took a team of dedicated servants, which highlighted the affluence of a household.
Over time, the use of tablecloths evolved. By the Renaissance, they became more decorative and a staple of high society, even seen in such famous paintings as Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper."
It was only during the Industrial Revolution that tablecloths became more accessible, with machine-making and lower prices turning them from a luxury item into a common household accessory.
So, as we venture deeper into cookout season, remember, just because we no longer use tablecloths as communal napkins doesnāt mean we canāt restart the tradition.
TODAYāS THEME NIGHTS & RESTAURANT SPECIALS
Official Restaurant Week is slowly drawing to a close (though, many restaurants have extended through June 21). So, if youāve been meaning to hit up a Restaurant Week prix-fixe, havenāt gotten around to it yet, and would like to tack it on with Summerlin Sounds tonight, these are the restaurants in Downtown Summerlin and Red Rock Resort where you can score a prix-fixe dinner (or brunch-dinner) for $40 or less.
Got a vacation coming up? Donāt forget travel insurance! Itās cheap and the peace of mind you need. Plus, travel is already stressful enough!
