Good variety of events in Summerlin tonight!
TODAY’S WIND DOWN BROUGHT TO YOU WITH
Happy Wednesday Afternoon, Neighbor!
Did you happen to go outside yesterday? 🌡️ It felt every bit the temperature it was, and that’s not gonna change any time soon. In fact, if the forecast holds, the temperature a week from today is going to make today’s temperature feel almost cool by comparison. Hope everyone’s HVACs and ice makers are in working order.
Also, you might have noticed that Michael’s in Downtown Summerlin that was supposed to open on May 24th… didn’t. Now, they have signs up that just say “Coming Soon,” so apparently they’re suffering the same indefinite situation as the DTS Lego Store, which is supposed to open in “late spring,” but, as of now, has no actual opening date.

TODAY’S HAPPY HOURS (FEATURING MEXICAN) 🫔
Craving Mexican food? (There are very few times I’m not craving Mexican food, to be honest.) In today’s Happy Hours, we’ve got two Mexican restaurants with very different vibes, including one that has some of the shortest Happy Hours of all the Happy Hours.
First up, on the south side of Charleston, we’ve got Mucho Loco, where the vibe is party-entertainment and today is one of the only two days of the week that they have Happy Hour (the other is Monday). Basically, Mucho Loco is a meal and a show. Not entirely sure how showy things get at Happy Hour (or at the bar), because I’m terrified of how loud and boisterous it’s going to be - I’m a personal believer that Happy Hour is for chillaxing - but if loud and boisterous is your bag, you’ll probably love it.
Next up, actually in Boca Park, we’ve got Hussong’s Mexican Cantina, one of our go-to Mexican Happy Hours, where the vibe is normally pretty chill, but it may be a bit livelier today (at least during the last hour or so), because it’s Aces gameday and they do a discount for the game. (More on that in Specials.)

Did You Know? 🧐
Cleopatra was a super-linguist.
Not only was she the first member of her Ptolemaic dynasty to speak Ancient Egyptian, a feat none of her Greek-speaking predecessors had been able to accomplish, but it was far from the only language she mastered. Like a language app come to life, Cleopatra was fluent in at least eight other languages: Ancient Greek, Ancient Iranian, Parthian, Syriac, Ethiopian, Troglodytae, Hebrew, and Arabic.
While being able to say “Whassup?” in nine languages is certainly an impressive party trick, Cleopatra's mad linguistic prowess wasn't just for show. It gave her a huge leg up in diplomacy. While other rulers were fumbling with interpreters, Cleopatra was dazzling diplomats in their native tongues, making deals and charming leaders from all corners of her empire.
As far as language divides go, you could say Cleopatra was the bridge between Greek and Egyptian traditions, a linguistic powerhouse navigating the ancient world's complex political landscape with her silver tongue.
